I am using a dataset which has countrycodes in a column which I use to create a Filled Map visual.

However, my all country codes are being recognised correctly, except for “PR” which is Puerto Rico.It shows error -

Is there any way I can superimpose a latitude, longitude just for this country code? Or I can explicitly mention what I mean by PR ?

Hi @Mahika_Garg and good to see you back in the community!

As per my understanding, this is expected behavior. In Quick Sight’s list of supported administrative areas, Puerto Rico is not treated as its own country. It’s a US territory, so it doesn’t resolve from a standalone “PR” country code the way countries do, which is exactly why all your other codes map fine and only PR fails. Unfortunately, I do not think you can superimpose a lat/long point on a Filled Map visual. Filled maps only work with geographic names or codes that quick sight recognizes as administrative areas. I do noy believe there is a way to manually override the geocoding for a specific value.

That said, here are a couple of workarounds, one option is to replace “PR” with “United States” in your data (if that works for your use case), since Puerto Rico would then be grouped under the US. But that only works if losing the PR-level granularity is acceptable. Another option is to switch from a filled map to a points on aap visual for just Puerto Rico. I am pretty sure that points on map visual does support latitude and longitude fields, so you could create a calculated field that assigns coordinates for PR and plot it as a point. You’d need a separate visual for this though, since you can’t mix filled regions and lat/long points in the same visual.

Hope this helps and feel free to keep us updated!
