Hello Everyone,

When creating a dataset using create\_dataset API from boto3 for quicksight and then creating a topic upon the created dataset, getting an error saying “(SNAPI\_SQL\_CONNECTION\_FAILURE)”.

Can anyone help me find the possible reasons for this error message?

Hello @ayushanandd , welcome to the Quick Sight community!

Can you walk me through your process when trying to create the Q Topic? Also, what data source did you try to create this dataset from?

Hello @WLS-D , Thanks for the follow-up

The data source I am using is aws Athena and trying to create a dataset for quicksight through the athena datasource by calling create\_dataset api from boto3 quicksight as client.

And when the dataset is created, I am trying to create a q topic upon that using create\_topic boto3 api and quicksight as client.

here is the view of datafield of the q topic:

Hey @ayushanandd

Were you able to confirm (visually/programmatically) that the dataset did successfully load into your Quick Sight account?

I would also make sure that your Quick Sight account has the appropriate permissions to connect to Athena:

> **[I can't connect to Amazon Athena - Amazon QuickSight](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/quicksight/latest/user/troubleshoot-connect-athena.html)**
