I have a SQL query that I want to publish and visualise. SPICE is the default query mode but I’d prefer to ‘Publish & visualise’ with ‘Direct query’. However, when I do this I get the error message:

”_ **Cannot publish datase. Unable to update the dataset. If the issue persists, please contact the QuickSight support.** _”

This wasn’t an issue in the previous version of Quick, when it was still Quicksight (EU-WEst-2 London). Can anybody help me understand why I am getting this error message?

Thanks.

Hi @alvarosuarez

Welcome to the Quick community!

Could you please share what data source is being used in the dataset?

Since your query works with SPICE, could you try creating a new dataset using the same query but with Direct Query mode enabled and see if that works.

Please refer to the below documentation this might be helpful for you.

> In QuickSight, data is queried from datasets when visuals load within analyses, dashboards, reports, exports, in responses to questions asked in natural language to Amazon Q, or when threshold alerts are being evaluated. Direct queries are sent to...
