Choosing a combo of categories across different datasets in quicksight

I currently have three datasets. Each dataset contains a category field, an ID, name of test and date.
Example:
ID category name of test date
123 1 xyz 3/10/2024
145 2 dfr 3/5/2024
276 3 dfd 3/14/2024

Lets say dataset 1 contains categories 1, 2, 3. Dataset 2 contains categories 4, 5, 6. Dataset 3 contains categories 7, 8, 9. each dataset is wide, meaning each category has its own column and a 1 or 0 indicates the presence of that category. I want users to have the flexibility to choose different combinations of each category. Example: they would like to see count of persons with category 4 and 3, or category 1 and 6. I want them to have the flexibility to choose a combo of categories within a dataset and across the three datasets. I know how to prepare the data in snowflake in order to achieve this in quicksight by merging at the ID level so that each id contains a row that includes all categories if applicable. However, how do I achieve this in quicksight without doing an prep work in the back end.

Hello @huda.h.yazgi !

You won’t be able to achieve this in the analysis layer but on the data prep layer you would need to use the custom SQL option. You could also try something with parameter mapping and filter actions, but you still would not be able to get all three datasets into a single visual on the analysis layer.

Let me know if this helps or if I missed something in your use case!

Hello @huda.h.yazgi !

Were the docs I posted above helpful, and if so could you mark that comment as a solution to help the community?

Yes, they were. Thank you @WLS-D!
