Client-side MCP tool list not syncing with Web — how to force a refresh on desktop & mobile?

I added new tools to a custom MCP connector, and the Web client can already call the new tools successfully. However, neither my desktop client (macOS) nor the mobile app picks up the change — both keep showing only the old tool list, and repeated reloads don’t help. The sync clearly isn’t immediate. My question: when exactly does the client-side MCP tool list (tools/list) get refreshed? Is there a fixed periodic sync interval, or does it only re-fetch when I start a new conversation, restart the client, or reconnect the connector under Customize → Connectors? What’s the fastest recommended way to get the desktop and mobile clients to pull the latest tool list once the backend is already updated? Thanks!

Hello Wenqi.ji,

Please refer to below

MCP Sync

As external MCP servers add new tools, update descriptions, and evolve their capabilities, MCP Sync keeps your connectors current. When an MCP server adds, removes, or modifies tools, MCP Sync updates your connector to reflect those changes without requiring you to reconnect.

Amazon Quick supports two connector types with different sync behaviors:

Built-in MCP connectors

Built-in connectors sync automatically. When the MCP server updates its tools, Amazon Quick detects the change and applies it without any action from you. Auto-sync is mandatory for built-in connectors and cannot be turned off. This prevents action failures caused by schema changes or removed tools on the server side. Built-in connectors sync automatically twice a month, on the first and third Monday of each month at 9:00 AM Pacific time.

Custom MCP connectors

Custom connectors require the connector owner to trigger a sync manually. To sync a custom connector, open the connector details page, and then choose Sync.

NOTE

Triggering a sync initiates a re-authorization flow. If the MCP server now requires OAuth scopes that were not granted during the original connection, the sync fails. Confirm that all required scopes are authorized before you sync.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Deep! But this is a different layer — I’ve already synced my custom connector and the Web tool list is correctly updated (the new tool works on Web). The problem is my desktop (macOS) and mobile apps, on the same account, don’t pick up the change — still showing old tools, clearly not instant.

HEllo Wenqi,

Since your Web client already sees the new tools, the connector itself is

synced; It seems desktop/mobile are holding a stale local registry. To force those

clients to pull the current list:

1. Install any pending Amazon Quick desktop app updates.

2. Click the refresh icon (⟳) next to the search bar on the Connectors page.

3. Fully quit and reopen the app (a reload isn’t enough).

I understand , its not ideal. if it still does not work as expected. please open and customer support and potentially we could tag it as feature request.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Deep

Hi @wenqi.ji,

It’s been a while since we last heard from you, did you have any additional or follow up questions regarding your initial topic? Were you able to try out the second approach that was shared?

If we do not hear back within the next 3 business days, I’ll go ahead and mark the solution to close out/archive the topic.

Thank you!
