Is there a way of dynamically parsing / splitting a field in QS?
For instance → the field name here is device_path and one of the values for the field is given below
I want to create a calculated field
device_path1 which will return [1, Phone]
device_path2 which will return [2, Phone]
device_path3 which will return [3, Tablet]
device_path4 which will return [4, Tablet]
device_path5 which will return [5, PC]
device_path6 which will return [6, PC]
Moreover, this device path will change every time and may not always return 6 fields. It will return minimum 1 field and max 7 fields.
Hello @Ajinkya_Bangale, I think for something like this to be dynamic, it would need to require a very small set of options. The best way to manage something like this would likely need to be through the creation of the dataset in custom SQL, or building out the database view to account for this. If it even is possible to complete this task in Quick Sight, it would be some seriously complex calculated fields to make it happen.
Hello @Ajinkya_Bangale, not exactly. There might be a way to build one, but I think you will have a lot more luck doing it through Athena. I honestly wouldn’t even attempt it in Quick Sight.
