For years, Amazon Quick has powered the dashboards your organization relies on. Quick is now your agentic teammate, putting the power of AI in the hands of knowledge workers across every team and role. In Quick, people gather insights, build weekly business reviews and sales battle plans, and automate operations workflows without swivel-chairing across separate SaaS tools. They organize signals from email, Slack, and meetings into what matters today, run deep research across data lakes and warehouses, and build the dashboards and reports that drive their operating rhythm. Starting from October 30, 2026, we bring all of Quick’s AI capabilities to BI Readers at no additional per-user cost.

That means Readers can finally act, not just view. Ask one question and get answers synthesized across dashboards, documents, and knowledge bases. Put Agents to work on your data and processes. Build Flows to automate multi-step work. Connect daily workflows to Slack, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and dozens more tools. Turn your data into finished presentations and documents. Ship Apps with no developer. All of this, now in the hands of Readers who used to only view dashboards.

A note on rollout: These changes will gradually roll out starting October 30, 2026, through rest of November. Not every account will have access on day one. Reach out to your AWS account teams if you need earlier access.

Your Data Stays Secure and Governed

AI answers respect every access rule you already have in place. Readers only see data they are already permitted to see; row-level and column-level security apply to every answer, and your data is never shared across customers or used to train shared models.

For Readers: Your Dashboards, Now with an AI Teammate

You have opened the same dashboards dozens, maybe hundreds of times. You have clicked through filters, exported to Excel, messaged an analyst to ask what a number means, and sat through another meeting to get a report that could have taken seconds. That changes today.

When your account is enabled, you move from a view-only dashboard experience to a fully AI-powered digital work companion, at no additional cost to you. The same data you already have access to, now with a whole new set of things you can do with it. Ask questions in plain language, automate the tasks that eat your day, build presentations straight from your data, get alerts in Slack when a metric moves, collaborate in shared Spaces, and use AI agents tuned to your organization. Your Favorites and Recents stay right where you left them. Nothing you rely on goes away. Quick’s chat is aware of all the dashboards and any other sources you have access to and can intelligently operate across them.

    What you can do now

Your next business review can start with a question instead of an export. Ask Quick in plain language, then put the answer to work.

Follow your questions, not a trail of filters

See an unexpected dip? Ask “What drove the revenue dip in March?” Quick helps you explore the data behind the number.

Keep going with “Which region contributed most?” or “How does that compare with last quarter?” Each answer gives you somewhere to go next, without writing a query or figuring out which filter to try.

Turn findings into your next presentation

You’ve explored the numbers. Now give them an audience.

Ask “Turn these findings into a presentation for our monthly business review.” Or request a document, spreadsheet, or image. Refine the draft through conversation and review it before sharing. Your findings become the starting point, without another round of copying charts into slides.

Get the bigger picture without opening another dozen tabs

Some answers need context beyond your dashboard.

Ask “How does this quarter’s sales performance compare with our launch plans and what’s happening in the market?”

Quick Research can bring together your data, your files, and the web in a report with citations you can check. Spend your time evaluating the findings rather than gathering the material.

Give the weekly rebuild a rest

That report you prepare every week doesn’t have to start from scratch.

Try “Email me a summary of this dashboard every Monday morning, including the biggest changes from the previous week.”

Use Flows to save repeatable steps, or Quick Automate for more involved work across connected systems. Describe the work you want to hand off and set it up to run again.

Build the app your team wishes it had.

Build an app for what happens next.

Your dashboards help you track performance. Quick Apps helps your team act on what you find.

Try “Build an app where our team can capture action items from our weekly business review, assign owners, and track progress.”

Describe what you need, refine the app through conversation, and share it with your team. No coding required. Your dashboards stay central to how you understand the business, with apps alongside them to help get the follow-up work done.

Available features depend on what your organization enables and the data and connections you have been given access to.

For Admins: You Stay in Control

No action is needed from you to enable this upgrade; it is on by default once your account is enabled. If you want to manage scoped down feature capabilities, for example to remove some or all AI capabilities for Readers, you can do that at any time with a Custom Permission profile, as described below.

When your account is enabled, your Readers move to the upgraded Reader role and gain the full suite of AI capabilities in Quick. Your current role gains these capabilities with no explicit action from you.

Available at no additional per-user cost. The current subscription cost of Readers includes 1 agent-hour and 1GB pooled index capacity per month going forward. Additionally, as a promotion, each Reader can consume up to 2 additional agent hours per month free till 1/31/2027. See FAQs below for more details on allocations and cost implications.

If you want to keep a set of users on the same experience

You remain fully in control. If your organization needs to keep a specific set of Readers on the classic, dashboard view-only experience for compliance, governance, or readiness reasons, you can, by applying a Custom Permission profile. These can be applied at the account, role or individual user levels.

Replicating the legacy Reader experience takes about 4 steps:

    1. Sign in as an admin and open the Custom Permissions page in the Quick console.

    2. Create a new Custom Permission profile and turn off the AI capabilities you want to withhold (you can block all AI as shown in the screenshot below or keep only Dashboard Q&A and block the broader AI surface, depending on what your group needs).

    3. Name the profile so it is easy to identify later (for example, “Classic Reader”).

    4. Assign the profile to the Readers or the Reader Role as whole

Custom Permission profiles stay editable, so you can adjust, broaden, or remove them at any time. Admins can also automate management through full feature CRUDL Apis related to customer permissions

For Authors: Your Curation Work Determines the Experience Your Readers Get

Authors are the bridge between raw data and great answers. When a Reader asks a question on a dashboard, the quality of the answer depends on whether you have curated the underlying dataset and topics. The admin enables AI for Readers. Making those AI experiences trustworthy is yours.

    What changes for you:

Nothing changes on day one in terms of how you build dashboards. What changes is the downstream experience your Readers get, based on what you’ve done with the data. You can explore and leverage full capabilities of Quick that helps you empower your stakeholders with promotional access to all capabilities of Quick Enterprise till Mar 31, 2027

    For Embedding Customers and ISVs

If you embed Quick Sight dashboards or Quick console within your application, there is no change to your product. However, if you plan to utilize Quick as your decisions and intelligence layer, you can now embed Quick Chat for Reader users also empowering you to curate various value-added AI-Powered features at different price points.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Does this change the per-user cost of my Readers?

No. Readers gain the upgraded role at no additional per-user cost, and this is permanent, not a limited-time trial.

    1. What are Agent Hours, and how many do Readers get?

Agent Hours meter AI usage in Quick. The included allocation is 1 Agent Hour per month. Through Jan 31, 2027, as a promotion, each Reader gets 3 Agent Hours per month at no additional per-user cost.

    1. What is the monthly infrastructure fee, and is it waived?

Use of AI features in Quick Enterprise accounts carries a monthly infrastructure fee. If you are already using AI in Quick, you are already paying for this. There is no impact. For customers who have only Author and Reader users on their accounts, this fee is waived through March 31, 2027.

    1. A Reader needs more than the included Agent Hours. How do Limit Profiles work?

Overage is not allowed by default. To let Readers go beyond the included Agent Hours, set a Limit Profile on the account. The number you enter is the total entitlement, not an amount added on top. For example, to give a Reader 2 hours beyond the promotional 3, set the Limit Profile to 5. Usage above the included allocation is charged at $3 per Agent Hour, so admins should know each plan’s entitlement before setting limits. Limit profiles can also be used for managing index capacity. Readers get 1 GB included pooled index as part of the subscription.

    1. How do I keep a set of Readers on the same experience as today?

Create a Custom Permission profile that replicates the current Reader experience and apply it to the Reader role of users.
