I want to have a data source in quick but the options are very limited. I dont have an AWS account to create an S3 bucket and google sheet does not connect to quick due to permission issues. I have an amazonbi account. Is there other options to create a data set that uses spice beside google sheet or having an AWS account. ? The target of the data source is to be used to refresh a dashboard weekly.
Thank you for the details. An uploaded file (CSV/Excel) can’t refresh automatically. It loads into SPICE, but you’d need to re-upload it manually each week. Since you’re looking for an automatic weekly refresh, you’ll want a connected source that Quick can re-query on a schedule.
Here are the options that don’t require an AWS account or an S3 bucket:
-
A SaaS connector (e.g. Salesforce, Jira, ServiceNow) connects directly and supports scheduled refresh. This is the best option if your data already lives in one of these applications.
-
An external database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.) the database doesn’t have to be in AWS, it just needs to be internet-accessible (or reachable via VPC for on-premises databases). These fully support scheduled refresh.
Once a connected source is in place, setting up the weekly schedule takes just a minute, open the dataset -> Refresh tab -> Add new schedule -> Weekly.
Here is some helpful documentation for reference:
hey @xclipse Where can I find more help in getting access to quick connection to google account. when I try to connect a data source its giving me this error code. Is there a trouble ticket I can submit to get this access?
This isn’t an Amazon Quick/QuickSight error, the message is coming from Google. Access blocked... Error 400: access_not_configured means your organization’s Google Workspace admin hasn’t yet approved this app for your account, so Google is blocking the connection.
To get access, please click the Request Access link on the error screen and follow the internal page it references. If you need to raise a ticket, it should go to your internal IT team that manages Google Workspace. AWS Support won’t be able to lift this block, as the approval has to come from your admin.
