I’m new to Amazon Quick and trying out the new multi-dataset relationship feature in Topics. When I connect two datasets (a customer dataset and a transactions dataset, 1:N relationship) and try to publish the Topic, I get this error:
“Cannot publish. You can only publish drafts. Make edits to create a draft first.”
This happens every time, even though I’ve made changes and the relationship itself works fine when I test it. Steps I took:
Created a Topic with dataset A and dataset B
Defined the relationship (customer_id as join key)
Clicked Publish → error appears
Both datasets are SPICE-based, same underlying data source. I’m in Region eu-north-1. I’ve tried refreshing the page and clearing cache, no luck so far.
Has anyone run into this or found a workaround? Thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems to be a regional problem at the moment. When switching to eu-central-1 it works as intended.
In trying to recreate your scenario, I was able to receive the same error message. After I created the relationship between the two datasets, you need to specifically click ‘save’ as show below:
If you do not click save and you are still in the relationship editor mode, clicking publish will give you the “Cannot publish. You can only publish drafts. Make edits to create a draft first.” error as technically you are still editing the relationship/topic. Once you click ‘save’ you should be able to publish your topic.
If this error keeps persisting, then I would recommend submitting a support ticket as this could be mean something is happening in the backend. Please refer to this resource on how to create a support ticket (Case management - AWS Support).
Just checking back in since we haven’t heard from you in a bit. I wanted to see if you found a solution in the meantime or if you still have any additional questions related to your initial post.
